My name is Sonny Tydlacka, and I've been blessed to touch countless lives, make 7-figures, and live out my calling specifically because of my ability to speak in public.

I wanted to say, "it wasn't always this way for me", "I always struggled with public speaking", or "I dodged the spotlight my entire life".

At least, that would make for an amazing transformation story,

…but it wouldn't be true.

Sure, I've had my moments of shyness and been nervous plenty, but unlike so many, I've always been drawn to the stage.

Maybe it's genetics (doubt it!). Or maybe it was my environment and training (more likely).

You see, my mom loved the spotlight.

Earlier in life, she was a beauty pageant queen, an emcee of countless events, and she's still super outgoing and able to make friends with anyone.

My grandmother was a local pro behind the mic as well.

As a matter of fact, one time my grandfather (who was the toughest and most loving man I ever knew) won Farmer of the Year in our County.

However, he did NOT like the stage nor the spotlight, so he wouldn't go up to receive his award!

My grandmother went up to receive it on his behalf and also give the thank you speech 😄.

I, on the other hand, was put in front of a crowd at an early age.

…I was in a Little Mister pageant when I was 6

…won a fashion show in Houston when I was 13

…starred in several plays, and skits throughout my childhood and was even in a movie with Denzel Washington

…went to professional modeling school when I was 17

…had multiple leadership and speaking roles in my teens and twenties

...had a weekly FM radio show for a short time

…was seminary trained at a master's level on preaching and teaching in my thirties

…and have loved making people laugh my entire life (got that from my grandfather!).

It might surprise you however to know that,

…I'm not an extrovert (I'm an ambivert)

…I still get nervous before big speeches (with excitement, not fear).

…and I have made a fool of myself in front of people more than once!

Why Most Communication Training Fails

Or learning to ride a bicycle by someone telling you how to do it over the phone…
